How to create a product: steps to take to make it happen!
Many people don't know where to start when creating their own product. Many of the main hurdles they face are not being able to write well enough, type fast enough, believe that they could ever write a thing.
Hiring a reliable writer that will deliver good quality information and meet deadlines can also be a problem.
But what if you could create a product without having to write a thing yourself or have anybody write it for you? Wouldn't that be perfect? Well there is a way of doing this by using information in the public domain.
Public domain information is there freely for anybody else to use. In the US, anything published before 1923 is in the public domain. Also anything from 1923 to 1963 that has not had it's copyright renewed is in the public domain.
So if you know where to look then you can find hundreds of thousands of published books in the public domain which you could turn into your own digital product! You can literally copy the whole thing and sell it as your own.
If you think that a lot has probably changed since 1923 and 1963 so the information will be out of date, then think about this. Is getting the perfect golf swing going to have changed? How about training dogs or any other pet? Martial arts?
None of these things would have changed much if at all. You can literally find thousands of different niches to choose from that would still be just as relevant today as they were back then.
But what if somebody else decides to sell the same book as you? Well it still doesn't matter. You can still sell plenty even if there are some people selling the exact same book as you. There is plenty of room for everyone, you will never have no competition.
Don't be worried about having competition, be more worried if there was no competition. If there's some competition then that means that there is a market already there for it. People wouldn't sell it if it wasn't selling. So if there is no competition then there is a reason for it... it doesn't sell.
Research is key here! Check if there are other people selling similar products within your niche. If there's not then alarm bells should be ringing!
There is nothing stopping you from adding more information to your book or taking other bits out. You can add pictures and diagrams if you want, it's yours to do what you want with so you can try to make your product more unique to make people buy your book instead of your competitors.
It just takes a little bit of creativity on your part.
Other things you can do to make your product look like your own are:
Change the title
Insert your own affiliate links and recommendations
Re-arrange the layout or flow of the book
So if you want to get your own product ready quickly without having to do much work then using public domain information could be the way forward for you.
All you need to do is a bit of research to find:
A market that is big enough to make a wide variety of offers to
A market that has money to spend
A market that can be reached easily online
A market that you have a personal interest in (optional)
Then find a book for that particular niche and find out if it is in the public domain. You then have your product almost ready to go.
It's simpler than having to write your own stuff and doing everything from scratch. There are many products out there that teach you how and where to find books that are in the public domain.
Some are much better than others so check the credentials of the author who wrote the product. You want to make sure that the person does what they are teaching and not someone who just wants to make a quick buck!
I hope this has opened your eyes a bit to new possibilities and help you get your own public domain product out there and making sales.
